In my post a few days back, I discussed the ineffectiveness of Chemotherapy treatment to some cancer patients. Chemo, as what proven studies show, only heightens the body's risk in even acquiring
other contagious diseases. On the other hand, this entry will deal with Chemotherapy's most severe concerns and after-treatment effects to patients who have undergone such cancer procedure.
Vomiting and nausea are the observed
Chemotherapy effects. Chemo-induced fear of vomiting and nausea may result to patients who receive sub-optimal amount of chemotherapeutic agents and even in those who refuse to continue the treatment due to vomiting and nausea. Also, chemotherapied patients may also develop depression, anxiety, and even serious conditions like weight loss, depression, fractures, dehydration, and aspirations. Such after effects may pose a dramatic change on the lives of cancer patients. Thus, it is essential to achieve proper control of vomiting and nausea in patients who are in a Chemotherapy treatment. In doing so, patients need to ask their doctors for medication, which usually consists of two or more kinds of drugs, to endure vomiting and nausea.
Furthermore, when chemo patients use arsenal drugs, problems in vomiting and nausea can be avoided. However, patients may automatically feel nauseous even if they are just about to have the treatment. It may be due to the surroundings or smell that is usually triggered by memories and thoughts of past treatments. Hence, it is a sad fact that even if chemotherapy is not 100 percent effective, the entire procedure itself is hard and very stressful to cancer patients.
